Job Summary

Work with a specialized team of highly skilled individuals to create and oversee the implementation of strategic communications and public relations plan to support Descasio’s goals of transforming Africa through technology. You will grow our inbound sales channels and help us build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing channels. What will you be doing?

  • Develop and execute an annual comprehensive communications and public relations plan to support strategic activities, investor relations and key programs. The plan will include: media relations, social media management, content strategy and management, external publications, management of all websites, and marketing activities to support programs. The plan will include specific outputs and outcome goals for each area.
  • Coordinate website and blog maintenance- ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
  • Write technology and digital related content to be published as part of Descasio’s public relations strategy.
  • Increase Descasio’s brand awareness by managing physical and digital brand appearance.
  • Monitor relevant related media coverage to understand how to leverage news and trends to advance Descasio’s priorities.
  • Assist with end to end relations with the press including writing of press releases, answering interview questions and scheduling PR activities.
  • Oversee the creation of all collateral materials for events and programs.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for Descasio.
  • Assist partner(s) in financial and non-financial investor reporting.
  • Work with the investment team to continuously develop and improve founder-relations.
  • Various other tasks, projects, and deadlines that arise in relation to above.

Functional Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Degree in Marketing, advertising, public relations or communications is preferred.
  • Creativity, a high level of energy, and passion for tech, and entrepreneurship.
  • Extensive knowledge of the African tech ecosystem.
  • Strong technical writing experience
  • Self-starter. Ability to take initiative to further the company’s relationships with external stakeholders
  • Ability to also take initiative and work independently and prioritize work daily.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading skills. Ability to rapidly write clear, strong, compelling communications.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate with diverse constituents, across continents..
  • Strong technology skills, including experience working with CRMs, Mailchimp, graphic design, publishing, web software (WordPress), and all social media platforms.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, advertising, public relations or communications or related field.
  • 5+ years’ minimum experience in marketing or related fields.
  • Fluent in English Language.
